If you happen to stop by, which by what the stats say, isn't very often. Not that I blame you since I update this maybe 2 times a year. Anyways, you've probably noticed that all the photos are missing from my previous entries. WTH happened?
So, the reason for all the photos being gone is because I dropped my Smugmug account. Nothing against Smugmug, they have an awesome service for inspiring photographers. I just couldn't justify the yearly cost when I wasn't putting in the time/effort to expand my so called photography business. I still have my flickr account and will be uploading new photos. Since I was uploading to both flickr and smugmug, I will probably take some time to change the links in my old posts to point to the flickr photos.
As for current photos? There isn't a whole lot to talk about. I've made a couple of outing this summer, but haven't really gotten the shots I wanted. Plus I've been busy going golfing and enjoying the Portland Timbers home games in the Timbers Army section. You have to watch the video in the link to understand why I enjoy going to the game so much.
I did upload some photos from my Salvador, Bahia Brasil trip last February. Here's a slide show:
Future plans: I am planning a 3 day weekend in the Olympic National Park to do some camping, hiking and of course photography. I'm figuring Hurricane Ridge at sunrise/sunset and some hiking around in between. It should be fun and hopefully I have good weather. It is a temperate rain forest though, so the weather is always a question mark.

In Salvador, Safe and Sound
After 22 or so hours of travel, I'm finally here in Salvador, Brasil. No major hiccups, everything went smooth. I even sat next to an ex KUFO Portland DJ who went by Richard on the flight from Chicago to Sao Paulo. He was headed to Fortaleza then driving 3 more hours from there to some remote bungalow hideaway on the coast that his friend owns. Sounded pretty cool to me. We talked a bit about how KUFO was shut down and it sounded like the new owners did a great job of running it into the ground. He words, "They didn't have a f'n clue how to run a rock station".
As for no major hiccups; there was a slight one here at the airport in Salvador. I had requested a taxi through the hotel to pick me up when I arrived in Salvador. I walked out the departure exit and didn't see my name anywhere. Wondered around a bit and figured there was a screw up, so I sat down and fired up my laptop to get the hotel address. Just as I was getting ready to go over to the taxi stand to order a cab, a guy holding a sign with my name on it walks by. It turned out he was over at the domestic gate exit and for some reason my flight, which was from Sao Paulo to Salvador, arrived at the international gate. The poor guy was standing around waiting for me and thought I ditched him while I thought he ditched me. He explained to me in Portuguese what happened and I picked up "Doméstico" and "Internaciona" and knew exactly what he was talking about.
My plan tonight? Sleep. My plan tomorrow? Enjoy the beach which is 20 yards away. Day after tomorrow? I'll figure that out sometime tomorrow.

Brasil, here I come
Well, I'm one day away from flying out for Salvador, Bahia Brazil and Carnaval. This trip isn't going to be so much of a "photo exhibition" but more of a relax and have fun on the beach trip. Don't get me wrong, I plan to do some photography while I'm there, but I'm not taking 30 pounds of camera gear. I'm just taking my Olympus PEN-Mini with the kit lens and the Panasonic Lumix G 20mm f/1.7 prime plus a lightweight Manfrotto carbon fiber tripod. Oh yeah, I'm also taking the old Canon IXUS 30 along as well for keeping in my pocket when I'm out enjoying Carnaval and Bahia nightlife.
I don't really have much of a agenda except to have fun and enjoy myself. I do plan to do some snorkeling, hanging out on the beach, checking out some clubs and of course experiencing Carnaval. Also, friend of mine from Manaus, Amazonas is meeting up with me to hang out for a week.
Anyways, I better go finish packing. I plan to post what's going on up here when I have time, so keep checking back.
